Why I Recommend Using an ADHD-Sensitive Virtual Assistant

As an ADHD coach, one of my greatest joys is helping clients stop struggling and start thriving. That often means encouraging them to delegate the tasks they dread — the boring, repetitive, or overwhelming ones that drain their energy and confidence.

So when I suggested to one of my clients that we bring a Virtual Assistant (VA) on board to take care of those draining tasks and free up more time for the work they love and excel at — magic started to happen.

An amazing VA crossed my path not long after. Over time, I trained her — and eventually other high-performing VAs — to understand enough about ADHD brains to become true allies for my clients.

Why Delegating Feels So Hard — and So Necessary

Let’s be honest: for ADHD entrepreneurs and professionals, the idea of delegating can feel uncomfortable. We often feel like we should be able to do everything ourselves. But the truth is, we’re at our best when we’re in our zone of genius — not bogged down in admin, scheduling, or follow-ups.

The challenge? Most ADHD’ers don’t have a ready-made team. That’s where virtual assistants come in.

But there’s a twist.

Neurodiversity Meets Collaboration

Our ADHD brains are wired differently — and that includes how we approach tasks, time, communication, and expectations. We procrastinate. We hyperfocus. We get distracted mid-sentence. We interrupt. We go off-topic. We feel guilty. And sometimes… we ghost people, not because we don’t care but because our executive functions crash.

This can make collaboration tricky — not just for us, but for the people working with us. So when I matched my client with that first VA, I knew I had to prepare her. I took the time to explain what to expect, how our brains operate, and how best to respond — with compassion, clarity, and flexibility.

It worked.

Not only did the collaboration succeed, but the VA developed real empathy and effectiveness in supporting ADHD clients. And I realized this wasn’t a one-off. It was a resource that so many of us needed.

The Birth of the ADHD-Savvy Virtual Assistant

Since then, I’ve made it part of my mission to personally train VAs in how to work with ADHD clients. I teach them how to understand “fast brains,” how to offer structure without judgment, how to hold space for our chaos, and how to gently keep us on track.

The results? Life-changing. For the clients, and often for the VAs too.

Becoming the Bridge

These days, I see myself not just as a coach, but as a bridge — between the neurodiverse and neurotypical worlds. I create understanding where there used to be frustration. I help build collaborative partnerships where there once was avoidance. And I support my clients in building lives and businesses that actually work with their brains — not against them.

If you’re an ADHD entrepreneur or professional feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just ready to stop doing it all alone — I want you to know: support is possible, and delegation can be your superpower.

You don’t have to be "better" at admin. You just need the right kind of help.

And we’ve got it.
